Bankruptcy Fees and Costs

ATTORNEY FEES:

The Chapter 7 attorney fee varies depending upon the complexity of your case.

In some cases the Chapter 13 bankruptcy attorney fee is paid through your repayment plan, so you do not pay the attorney's fee up front. In other cases, most of a Chapter 13 bankruptcy attorney fee is paid through your repayment plan but we require an attorney fee of $250.00 before you file a chapter 13 bankruptcy.

Emergency petitions may require a higher fee. Please call (615) 417-7800 for more specific prices for your individual case.

FILING FEE: The United States Bankruptcy Court, Middle District of Tennessee, requires a Chapter 7 filing fee of $299.00 to be paid, and $274.00 filing fee for a Chapter 13. However, it is possible for the filing fee in a chapter 13 to be included in the repayment plan so you would not have to pay that fee up front.

OTHER FEES: A $50.00 briefing fee paid to a consumer credit service is required before you file any bankruptcy. In a Chapter 7, after your hearing, you must also attend an education class within 45 days which also costs $50.00. Therefore, there will be a total cost of $100.00 for a Chapter 7. The education class is free when you file a Chapter 13, so the total other fees will be $50.00 for a Chapter 13.
